Administrative Drivers License Suspension

Obtaining a Breathalyzer Reading of over 80 milligrams per100 milligrams of blood will result in your license being automatically suspended for 3 months (90 days).

Back on Track Program

Reinstating your license financially and time wise after an Impaired Driving-DUI conviction is costly. For a period of a year, you will be required to participate in a program called “Back on Track”. The program is hosted by the Ministry of Transportation and the fee for Participation is $475.00. This is a counseling type program where you will be required to attend classes and complete medical and psychological assessments.

Refusing the Breathalyzer Test in Ontario

You will be charged criminally if you refuse to complete a roadside screening device test or a Breathalyzer Test at the Police Station. The penalty is the same as an Impaired Driving conviction.

Understanding the Ignition Interlock Device

Definition
An Ignition Interlock Device is an alcohol screening device that is situated in your car.

How it works
The vehicle’s driver must provide a breath sample that is below the legal limit to utilize the car. Failure to provide a breath sample, or samples that are over the legal limit will be recorded and activate an alarm system, until the vehicle is turned off.
